By referring to the experience and success that has been achieved by the Yayasan Administrasi Indonesia in managing educational institutions as well as a strong push from YAI Accounting Academy alumni who want to continue their studies to the Strata 1 (S-1) level, without leaving the existing ones, encouraging Yayasan Administrasi Indonesia established the YAI College of Economics, abbreviated as STIE YAI, on April 1, 1985, through the Decree of the Chairperson of YAI concerning the establishment of STIE YAI No. SK. 01C/SK/YAI/IV/85.
